If you have a car(rental car) with you, by the way, Matera is also great location for visiting other Puglia cities such as Alberobello.

Le Malve Cave Retreat Cave Retreat is located in Sasso Caveoso, the historic part of Matera. It boasts air-conditioned rooms with a town-view balcony and a buffet breakfast. Everything was very good. The host gave us parking coordinates, met us at the parking lot and drove us to the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. In the heart of Sassi, close to everything to see there. Matera is a wonderful place.

Set inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site, Corte San Pietro is housed in a renovated historical building carved out of stone. It offers rooms with a private entrance and free Wi-Fi throughout. This wonderful little hotel is staffed by wonderful people who are so welcoming and friendly. They staff made sure we were comfortable and that we had access to a lot of local information. Anne even booked us a local (delicious) restaurant and sent over complimentary Prosecco. The room was delightful and very clean. The breakfast was delicious also. A very special stay.

The hotel is located at the top of the Sassi, the beautiful historical centre, making it really easy to reach the most beautiful landmarks of the town by foot. The staff are really really nice, everyone is so kind and helpful, particularly Rocco. Beautiful terrace with an amazing view, highly recommended for your breakfast in the morning if the weather permits it. I particularly loved that there are only 9 rooms, so your stay will feel even more premium.

Ideally located in the Sassi di Matera district of Matera, Cenobio Hotel & SPA Matera is set 800 metres from Convent of Sant' Agostino, 240 m from Matera Cathedral and 400 metres from MUSMA Museum. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices to choose from, espresso and cappuccino very good

What a stay! The city in it self is an absolute 10/10! But Gianni (the owner of the hotel) made the stay even more perfect! Even though he did not speak much English (and we do not speak Italian) he still did everything to make our stay right for us. He even took us on a hike through an olive garden! The room was nice and chilled and the bath was spacious! Would definitely recommend this to anyone even remotely considering Matera!!!
