Ideally located in the center of Takayama, THE MACHIYA HOTEL TAKAYAMA has air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. Rooms were a lot bigger than expected, and the whole place had a nice, intimate feel to it. The private Japanese bath we hired was just perfect, and really added another layer to the whole experience. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beds were relatively comfortable.

It’s a small hotel - only two rooms on our floor which helps with noise and lift being available quickly. Location is great - very close to the station and walking distance to the old town. We enjoyed the complimentary welcome drink at Hid’s Cafe which also does an excellent battered fish and chips. The room was the most spacious we had in Japan with a luggage rack and plenty floor space to leave a second bag open on the carpet. As well as space to hang up clothes if needed. There was also an ironing board and iron which was unexpected. We could charge both our devices using the USB ports next to each bed. The bed was very comfy and noise insulation excellent. There is free water dispenser on the 3rd floor and washing machine and dryer.

Featuring a bar, Mercure Hida Takayama is located in the center of Takayama, a 1-minute walk from Takayama Station. We have only one night stay in Mercure Takayama. It was a wonderful stay. The location is excellent. Room and bed all comfortable.

Well located in the center of Takayama, hotel around TAKAYAMA, Ascend Hotel Collection provides air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi and a bar. The facilities in the hotel were amazing. There was a private "onsen" (not a natural one), which you could book for 45min for a fee. (somewhere around $15). The room was clean, modern and spacious. The staff was super lovely, we felt super welcome and were able to ask anything without any problem. There was also a map in the lobby featuring all sorts of interesting places and restaurants to visit. Lastly, we had a night at the bar too, and the barman was wonderful. We had some drinks and snacks for a very reasonable price. There is also a laundry room, with 2 in 1 washing and drying machines. You can check availability from the tv in your room (or even the website/app, I believe). However, note that the drying function of the machines is not that good, so you might have to continue drying some clothes in your room.
