Bourbon Street is for sure an interesting place, and it is also extremely crowded and noisy. I am not sure how anybody can keep up a normal conversation while walking down the street. There are basically all types of music played, maybe 4 or 5, individuals or group, on both sides of a the same sidewalk.
Also just about everybody warns tourists of unsafe the street is as soon as the sun is down--which in winter means past 5PM. We did not experience , nor did we see/witness any criminal activity, though. Police is there too, watching, on street corners.

Whatever you do, if you decide to bring children to NOLA, especially children that are still in strollers, do not take a child's stroller to Bourbon street, especially at night. I wouldn't say it's dangerous, but rather really not appropriate for kids to be on Bourbon street and there is often very loud music playing from the bars and street performers that might be tough on little ears. Plus, there are usually some people that are very intoxicated walking around and do you want that around your child(ren)?

This is my second time here on Bourbon St first time was in the mid of the pandemic. The second time was nothing like the first time. There was so many people having a good time drinking dancing and just talking loud. I loved every minute of it

Although the French Quarter is interesting, Bourbon Street...
Although the French Quarter is interesting, Bourbon Street is a mess. It is dirty and smells terrible and worse than many of the Third World Countries I have visited. Even a police officer I talked to recommended avoiding Bourbon Street.
The French Quarter has some of the best food I have ever eaten and street performers are great but stay away from Bourbon Street.

It’s good to walk along there and people watch, it’s mainly drunk tourists but fun to watch the guys working on the street trying to hustle as well, there’s some real characters. Plenty more great places to visit in the city though

Please be prepared to pay at least $25 per day for parking.
Please be prepared to pay at least $25 per day for parking. Get a hotel close to wear you'll be touring and walk each day. Everything is in walking distance which is good for site seeing and waking off all of that deliciousness.

Walking distance to clubs, bars. restaurants, cafes & Mississippi. We had a large room with 2 comfortable king size beds, Bathroom & Aircon. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. Close to Canal Street, Bourbon Street & Frenchman Street. We had a great time
This vintage character hotel has a very good location, it’s just a short walk to Bourbon street with lots of bars and restaurants around. Very easy for taxi and Uber access. It’s an older hotel, but very good service and has a great breakfast with tons of food choices. The beds are very comfortable. It has a peaceful cool courtyard with pool and huge parking garage. Microwave available, good coffee all day, and a cold water cooler available all day added to the pleasant experience.
Nice small apartment, close to French Quarter. You can walk to Bourbon Street in about 15 minutes during the day through Louis Armstrong Park, which closes at 7 in summer. An Uber back will only cost you about 7-12$.
Very nice host who answers quickly if you have any questions.
Location fabulous One street behind busy Bourbon Street but our room was super peaceful and quiet Bar next door very enjoyable Staff in hotel very friendly and helpful Good value for money
It is a very historical building. We stayed 2 room apartment. It was very spacious and so delicately decorated. The old brick walls gave a very cousy and elite wipe. Everything about the apartment was great. The lobby area and patio was also excellent. Location is central 10 minutes walk to Bourbon street and 15minutes walk to French quarter. Definitely recommend to families. The parking was easy on the street. Also Lafayette park is 2 blocks away.
The rooms were clean and quite big for a hotel room. Beds were comfortable. Location was great, just 5-ish minutes away from Bourbon street, near many restaurants and stores. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Location was superb. Plenty of shops and restaurants just outside the property. Bourbon Street was a couple of minutes away on foot. Apartment was well-equipped and comfortable. Staff were all helpful and friendly.

What guests said about Bourbon Street:
Avoid Bourbon street at night on the weekend, more of a crowd drinking scene anyway so if crowds aren't your thing, not really where you should be looking
If you are looking to avoid crowds, its tough. Find restaurants off the beaten track and at different times than are typical eating times. Avoid Bourbon street at night on the weekend, more of a crowd drinking scene anyway so if crowds aren't your thing, not really where you should be looking. The fact is that it is a popular place so it is tough to miss people, but strike out on your own and explore and there are some great things to see.

So many options to listen and enjoy music, not only on Bourbon Street but throughout the French Quarters and adjacent areas
So many options to listen and enjoy music, not only on Bourbon Street but throughout the French Quarters and adjacent areas. Big plus is that for most places its free entry, so you can just go and enjoy the music without having to spend much money.
