Chateau de Monrecour is located in Périgord Noir region, in the heart of the Dordogne Valley. It offers two heated swimming pools, a large south-facing terrace and a gourmet-style restaurant. Great hotel, a little bit of luxury. Breakfast had great variety of cold cuts, cheeses, fruit and eggs and coffee. Rooms were spacious enough, but the best part was the pool! Often photos on sites make a place look better than it actually is. Auberge de Castel-Merle is so much better than the photos led me to expect. Truly one of the most lovely accommodation experiences I have ever had. I hope to stay there again.

Set in Thiviers, Le Belvédère is a beautiful private property which provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden and a terrace. The location was finé and the host attentive. Breakfast was continental (toast, croissant, pain au chocolat, yoghurt, coffee or tea). We chose to eat in for dinner, and the first night’s meal was excellent. The host had to be away from the hotel the next day so the meal was not of the same standard, but we would eat in again on a future visit.
