Opened in June 2018, Hotel 1001 Nott offers modern accommodation 5 km from Egilsstadir. The hotel features outdoor hot tubs overlooking Lake Lagarfljót. There is also an on-site bar. Spacious and comfortable rooms with nature view, very good breakfast with home-made food. There is a hot tub available with beautiful view to the lake - included in the room price, along the bathrobe. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Definitely best hotel I have stayed in Iceland, highly recommended!!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient and close to eateries, grocery stores and gas stations. The rooms and facilities were clean. We had a comfortable stay here.

This family-run hotel enjoys a countryside location by Road 93, overlooking central Egilsstadir, 2 km away. Free WiFi access in the lobby and garden views can be enjoyed. A great secluded hotel accommodation just slightly off the main road, and a few minutes drive from Egilsstaðir and very close to the start of Route 93 towards Seyðisfjörður Staff were very friendly, and the common facilities [WC | Breakfast Buffet | Hot Tubs] were clean and readily accessible. Additional towels and bath robes available on request. Very attractive lounge with a balcony available at all times near the reception desk. The cabins were very cozy and compact, with sink + stove | dining table | bed | couch all in one area, then narrow bathroom off to the side. The hotel is in a prime location for Northern Lights viewing as well. I would recommend walking past the reception area and parking to the small gravel road leading down to the secluded house, and setting up there along the road. If preferring other locations for viewing, there are numerous parking spots on Route 93 as well, which are far enough from the town where light pollution isn't much of a concern.

Although a bit out of the way, its not a bad base for East Iceland. There are a number of quiet fishing towns within reasonable distance. For us, the trip was marked by a fantastic and exceptional showing of the northern lights which we will always associated with Fáskrúðsfjörður. There is a couple of nice restaurants in the town, but be prepared to travel to see things - but this applies to all of East Iceland of course.

We stayed one night on a trip around the Ring Road. Egilstaddir has several cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, clothing and other retail shops, and a regional airport, making it a good place for an overnight stay. Not as charming as nearby Seyðisfjörður (about half an hour's drive farther east over a mountain pass in good weather), which has better restaurant options, a picturesque and walkable downtown, and more dramatic scenery, but if you're staying a couple of nights in this part of East Iceland, Egilstaddir might be a better home base for exploring the region as it's easier to get in and out of. Salt Cafe has good sandwiches that are much cheaper than the Subway nearby. Don't miss the bookstore and bakery at the foot of the bridge. Netto has decent prices on groceries and also has a reasonable selection of home goods, souvenirs, toiletries, toys, and clothing if there's anything you forgot to pack or need to replace.

Just a short drive from amenities in Egilsstadir, the clean and comfy Litlabjarg Guesthouse is in an excellent location to explore the surrounding landscape and wildlife of northeast Iceland. Many coastal villages are within an hour drive, including Bakkagerdi, where you can enjoy a lamb buffet and a concert after viewing the puffins at Hafnar.

The kitchen was very good and they provided plates/pans etc... The room was also very clean. The price is very reasonable of what they offer! It is located a few minutes again from the city - you just cross a bridge! It is a perfect stop if you are planning to visit East Iceland - which is the most beautiful area in Iceland! We had a very good stay there! Well done to the owners!
