I was in Boston for 4 full days. If you like historic sights, it's great. The subway is easy to use. I loved the Freedom Trail and the Adams National Historic Park. Also loved Legal Seafood. Great Clam Chowder and Red Sangria. When you are on the Freedom Trail, get the cooked crab (in the small plastic cup) from the outdoor seafood market near the wharf!! We went to the Cape Cod National Seashore for 2 full days and that was awesome, too. We went on a whale watching tour with Dolphin Fleet of Provincetown, hiked the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail, and to the Massachusetts Audubon Bird Sanctuary while in Cape Cod. All of those activities were fantastic! We stayed in Chatham. Nice town.
I enjoyed the harbour, Faneuil Hall marketplace, Boston Common, including the Massachusetts State House, and most of the Freedom Trail. We found a small ferry at the USS Constitution site which took us back into Boston harbour and saved the long walk back from the far side of the Charles River. Shopping in Newbury Street and Boylston Street was also good. Three days is plenty of time to see everything. The Boston tea party exhibit was disappointing. We walked a distance in the heat and there was a marker on the river bank and 2 boats parked in the middle of the river, with access from a bridge. You had to pay a significant amount for a one hour guided tour, including a museum and a re-enactment of the event. We decided not to pay.
Arrived after a stay in NYC. Much more laid back and more friendly. Some great museums and galleries, restaurants (particularly big in seafood). Worth exploring the outer districts on foot too. Things we liked: Freedom Trail, cruise in Massachusetts Bay, Museum of Fine Arts, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Legal Seafoods.
Easy to walk around the city and it felt safe. On the negative side...After travelling through many US cities where you can purchase alcohol at virtually every 7eleven store or even pharmacies it came as somewhat of a shock to find that the only place you can purchase alcohol to takeaway is the dedicated wine stores... Massachusetts laws are certainly different.
Loved it! We ate at Nixs (the barman was so friendly), Cru (fantastic location) and the lobster rolls from Stubby's were the best we tasted the whole trip around Massachusetts. The Wave buses were great to get to the outer reaches of the island but the main sights are all within walking distance of the town centre. The Whaling museum was terrific, be sure to watch the movie which gave a great overview of the history of the island. We loved Nantucket and will definitely be back for more.
I live here and although I love Massachusettsbut in my opinion it is the most overpriced city in America. When parking at the airport for the weekend costs more than your flight and drinks combined.... something is wrong. You will not park anywhere in the city for the day under $80. Get ready to pay triple for everything including hotels that can range from $350-$600 per night. Boston ranks in the top 3 most expensive tourist destinations in the US with a total for three days: $1,840... WHY?
A very historic city. The Freedom Trail is a must, as is a visit to the Common, Cheers Bar and Isabella Gardner Museum. Rather cold and damp when I was there, so better to visit Apr-Sept. Recommend the Cornish Pasty eatery on Massachusetts, near Hynes Metro. Great pasties, freshly made. Good value and filling. Welcoming and friendly management: Michael, Brendan and Katie. Transport system ok, but the Metro needs upgrading in parts. Advise you to buy a weekly pass: better value, though Boston is a very walkable city.
Beautiful city, plenty of history and beautiful architecture, mix of old and new with plenty of green spaces in between, convenient public transport system, numerous food choices to suit a wide range of palettes and budgets. If shopping is your thing, Newbury Street for the high end, Massachusetts Ave., mid to low end, and many more. It is a walking city as it is fairly flat, best way to see the sights, have a break in the parks or a drink in the interesting pubs, or just jump on the T if you've had enough. Seafood is a must, try Jasper White's Summer Shack, Back Bay.
We absolutely love this hotel. It is very close to Salem, Massachusetts and Boston. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Don't forget to grab some brochures and make sure to ask the staff about things to see and do, we found this very helpful. Visit the Northshore mall, it is clean and beautiful. I can always find a great buy in Macy's or Forever 21 store. Many stores to select from love Sears department store. The make up and bath stores are awesome! The food court is a great place to stop for a quick bite but however, our favorite was Berton's Grill.
The historic Harvard University meant so much to me specially when I witnessed Mark Zuckerberg delivers his commencement message to the 2017 graduating class. Life in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Boston is so serene. I could live the rest of my life in this place. I love BOSTON!!!

The first time we ever visited Massachusetts, we stayed here! Came back again because we also really liked the hotel, and the location suited us. Last time we stayed here we had a Queen bed. This time we had a room with a King bed. Never again. My partner and I had a terrible sleep! Front desk male clerk was super nice! I remember him from our stay last year! If we stay here in the future we will not get a room with a King bed! Also, more of a variety for breakfast! Maybe eggs or sausages or some kind of meats!
Love how close the hotel is to Boston but it’s cleaner cheaper, and nicer than hotels we stayed at in the city. We’ve stayed at this particular hotel three of four times now when we come to Massachusetts because it’s always a good play to stay. It’s usually pretty clean and pleasant and the location is great. We like the outdoor area surrounding the hotel, with grass, trees, etc. the rooms are always pretty nice with comfortable beds and a good amount of space. Everybody who works there is nice and helpful.
My best friend, since grade school, and I decided to splurge and your hotel! The area fit perfect, she is in Maine, I am in Vermont and our children and grandchildren live in Massachusetts, so Burlington was a great fit. Your hotel is beautiful and all of your staff were not only professional in going out of their way to accommodate so many of us and our needs, they did it so genuinely happily also!. We really can't wait to be able to splurge like that again. We made some priceless memories!
Everything about this hotel was amazing. situated in the beautiful town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Fairfield inn is conveniently close to restaurants, supermarkets, shops and the beach. my stay was excellent. the staffs were friendly and welcoming which made me feel at home. The rooms were clean, big, spacious and Inviting. The walls are sound proof. The Appliances at Fairfield are updated. I would definitely recommend the hotel if you want to relax, and enjoy your stays.
Very nice, clean, no frills hotel conveniently located right across from the metro station at Porter Square. Super friendly staff. Nice view over Massachusetts Ave, and no noise at all coming from the window. Water and coffee in the room, and all the small comforts I want when I travel. I will choose this hotel again and I recommend it.
Didn't have breakfast my mom and me ended up buying breakfast at a local shell station in the area. We picked this hotel because we were going to a hockey game in springfield massachusetts and we weren't going to make it home in time so we picked this hotel. The place was great room was awesome as well.
The hotel is elegant beyond its price. It is very conveniently located to I-84, the Massachusetts Turnpike, and U.S. 20. In spite of its proximity to three busy highways, our stay was peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was delicious, and there is both an indoor and outdoor pool that were both well-maintained.
the location in Cambridge did work for us, with the metro it's only a few stops from Boston South station. some good food spots around the corner as well. at Massachusetts Ave are a lot of bars and quite a nightlife.
We arrived early and there were no issues. Third time staying at this hotel and will continue to stay while in Massachusetts
I loved everything about the hotel from the hot tub to the pool to the service I had it was absolutely incredible.
Breakfast excellent. Expensive but excellent dinner at The Beach House. Friendly staff with good facilities. Very enjoyable stay.
very clean, well maintained food & staff great
Very welcoming office staff. They could not have been more accommodating…going above and beyond. Pools were really nice and clean. Room was wonderful. Everything spotless. Fantastic modern bathroom. Comfy bed with plenty of pillows. Breakfast had numerous options.Coffee and tea available 24/7! Nice to visibly see cleaners and maintenance workers taking care of the hotel even the windows above the indoor pool. My wife and I liked everything about our stay there. We felt safe and would certainly stay there again if we get up that way. This hotel is a best kept secret!
Bedrooms are spacious, clean with parking just in front. Nice area, well furnished
Very friendly and helpful staff!
The breakfast could have been better they only sell limited variety not kids friendly.
the bathroom was to small and had no counter space. floor was concrete with runners. we were two friends and needed room to get dressed with out the other having to go iand sit in the bathroom or go out of the room.
Staff were very friendly and efficient! Loved our room facing the sea! Great and beautiful location. Quiet comfy and nice sized room. Lovely little sitting area outside room that we would have loved if it hadn't been raining the whole time! Great breakfast (extra)! We loved that even though there weren't a lot of guests when we were there, they didn't clump us all together like most places do. Also loved the history and ambiance of the place.
A hotel in a beautiful location, comfortable, with a tasty breakfast, courteous staff and a fire pit for children to enjoy a backyard.
