We have stayed in hotels in York, Harrogate, Skipton, Durham and Whitby to mention but a few and we have never experienced a hotel that does not provide complimentary cookies and water... I found myself being directed to the local sainsburys by reception staff who were very apologetic and also a little embarrassed... Lost for words really !! It spoilt what was a fantastic stay, which was such a shame. 8

The spa, the food almost everything with one exception which I will mention in the dislike box

The only fault we could find was the banging of doors through the night,slow closing doors in the corridor would make a difference.

Made to feel very welcome,relaxing atmosphere, great gym and spa facilities.

It’s a little tired but the staff the food and the location make up for it!

Staff lovely food is really good and they were excellent at accommodating gluten free as well as having plenty of choices for children

I felt some things need a bit of tlc.e.g. The bed base was tatty .

The staff were really friendly. The hotel’s position was very good. The spa area was lovely.

Maybe a lick of paint on outside and the windows had seen better days but this in no way spoiled our stay.

Rooms were functional but absolutely spotless. We had a fabulous sea view. We made use of the extensive facilities in the gym. The bathroom had mood lighting and best shower I've ever experienced in a hotel!

Only issues were no tea or coffee in the room on arrival but these were given to me after I asked. The room I had was near the kitchen and the freezers were a bit noisy unfortunately during the night.

Not an issue with me as such but I did notice a few dogs off their leads around the gardens' area, perhaps there could be some signage to warn others of free-roaming dogs as not everyone is comfortable with that on their travels.

Lovely seafront view which was also easy to get to within walking distance. Attended a festival at the Ocean room and scarborough spa area and was also very good distance for walkers. Close proximity to the town and the hotel stay itself did what it need to do.

Breakfast was manic. Especially on our last day, the staff didn't seem to cope keeping everything full. No glasses for juice so people were using mugs so no mugs for coffee. Then they brought out 10 glasses which was not enough. Bread basket was empty, no croissants bean tray was empty, it was just manic. No complaints about the breakfast once we got it.

Overall the hotel was really good. Swimming pool was great. We didn't have enough towels , there was only only enough for 2 people but there was 3 of us staying in the same room but reception sorted it out for us. Reception staff were lovely. Food in the restaurant was excellent

I didn’t use the restaurant or bar. Wasn’t really sure on options as on my own. I think some sort of deal with food could be introduced to encourage the use. I ate out.

Great location, easy to walk in to town and down to the harbour. I found parking right outside and was pleased I could pay for parking at reception for just £5 for the night. loved the gym and the spa facilities.

Ventilation in the rooms and bathroom

Decor in general. Room had puckered wallpaper in the corner (presumably due to damp). There was no A/C in the bathroom, so it got humid. Thankfully they do supply a fan, so that helped! Parking was a bit difficult as there seemed to be a lot of cars about and few parking spaces (you buy a parking ticket for a few days to comply with the 'disc' parking rules)

We didn't even visit the Spa as we were working, but the staff were exceptional. The hotel itself could do with a spruce up in all honesty. However it was pleasant, and hasn't yet reached a negative stage.

Hotbwster and cold water combination is not very well organised I the room where I stayed. Carpet was not hygienic.

Bedroom and upstairs rather tired looking like a lot of the big Victorian buildings. Windows blown so view wasn’t as good as it should have been. Awful pink light over the bed. No biscuits, not enough milk. Expensive for one night.

Sea front view and handy for Spa Theatre.
