Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOnly thing I didn’t do well were the stairs but steep narrow staircases are part and parcel of Scarborough and surrounding areas so nothing against the property or the hosts.
The bathroom was immense and the reason I booked even though I didn’t get chance to experience it without the 1 year old we still enjoyed face masks, hair masks and the good bubble bath on the last night and it didn’t disappoint, but after experiencing the property the rest of the house was just as good i absolutely fell in love with the property it felt like home.

United KingdomThere are no faults to find in this friendly and warm property.
Warm, clean, welcoming, first class facilities. Especially the bath/shower room. Information booklet first class and very useful. Property had all expected facilities and additionally laundry room, sun deck and a spacious garden. Parking outside property was straight forward and was paid for by provided scratch card, also could be used in other locations. Had an excellent Italian meal nearby as recommended in the booklet provided by the hosts.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't realise and was my mistake when I booked was quite how hilly Scarborough is. Thankfully, we all managed with a little moaning on the walk back but would definitely need to be considered for other people if you've never visited before.
What a fantastic and beautifully decorated property, we've just had a fabulous 3 night stay for a friends birthday as a surprise for her (2 couples). About a 5 to 10 min walk to the seafront and has some fabulous views, especially from the loft room landing window. The house has everything you need to have a very comfortable stay and was exceptional clean when we arrived, parking pass was a great addition to. It's in a great location for the indoor market and the Scarborough Arms where we had a lovely meal and would highly recommend a visit too. Also, theres some great little pubs down some of the little side streets which are also definitely worth a visit.

United KingdomAs others have said the road can be an issue so if possible leave your car for the day and walk. The parking permits were a little confusing as two provided, one with a time disc and a scratch off one to be used daily
A lovely property had high finish touches everywhere. It was spotlessly clean. The location was good for the north bay and south bay walks and close to everything the town has to offer. The log burner was very cosy at night and kept us very warm

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing.
The hosts were very prompt with instructions and kindly left a visitor parking permit, which took the pressure off in that regard. The home is of the highest quality fit and finish. It's incredibly warm and comfortable and very, very close to the beachfront. All in all, an exceptional property.

United KingdomNothing really. Although if you are of a certain age the stairs could be a problem as they are quite narrow and steep, which is typical of this type of property. But really that is only a very slight niggle.
The location was right in the middle of the old town of Scarborough. The house had recently been modernised to a very high standard. The house had everything you might need. It was like home from home. There is street parking right outside the house and the hosts give you a parking permit to cover your stay.

United KingdomThese are things, that, are not that they're bad but things for people to be aware of when booking, or alternatively for he hosts to take into consideration. - Parking - it is a nightmare to park outside the cottage, sometimes you will get on the same street but not necessarily. However having stayed in a similar location of Scarborough before this I knew about it so it wasnt deterimental to our stay - but if having the car in eyesight of your stay, it may not be the best location for you - Small Children - I travelled with my 15m old daughter, so the babygate at the bottom of the stairs was great. However, there is no babygate at the top of the stairs which are quite steep (its to stop any dogs going upstairs more-so than children) this is just to be aware that if you are travelling with small children who are on the move, that they cant have the free-run from bedroom (double) to bathroom across the landing and you will need eyes on them at all times. I had to shut my daughter in the bathroom with me on more than one occasion during my stay. Equally the door opens almost straight out onto the road, not a pavement - so it is something to be careful of. - For the hosts, and this is just tiny! In the information packet maybe some takeaway suggestions! There are Cafe's and Restaurants in there - but no takeaways!
The cottage is absolutely beautiful, the hosts have definately thought of (amlost) everything, even the little touches of tea/coffee sachets, biscuits waiting on the side etc - and washing up things incase you'd forgotten to bring things for yourself. We couldn't find the hairdryer, or the router for the Wifi, so a quick text to find out where we should find these items, and then upon learning that the hairdryer was missing, a new-one was promptly at our door the next morning. The decor is beautiful throughout, TVs in all bedrooms aswell as downstairs, Wifi (when we found the router ha!) and the bathroom is just divine! There is a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs, for both dogs and children too - made our stay so much easier and safer for my little one. For location the cottage is literally round the corner from the Market and Vaults and then it is upto you from there where you go either up into the shopping area or down to the beach and the seafront. I had read about the location being "within social housing" and it is - but we had absoltutely ZERO problems from anyone - even when my car was parked away from the cottage I wasn't concerned.
