The spacious rooms at Fuki no Mori Hotel come with private bathrooms with free toiletries. All rooms have traditional decors, a seating area and a balcony with views. Most rooms have tatami (woven-straw) flooring with futon bedding.

A beautiful luxury hotel set in forest outside Tsumago, with hotel shuttle bus access. Everything was perfect- from the warm welcome, being conducted to our room, shown the onsen and dining room, where breakfast and dinner were exceptional (in Keisei style and well worth the additional charge). It was a most relaxing stay after our Magome to Tsumago walk- 6 hours in drenching rain- but still very beautiful to be again on this marvellous walk.

Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 40 km of Ōi and 40 km of Enakyo Wonderland. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage space, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The ryokan has facilities for disabled guests.

We were there for our anniversary and it was spectacular! Koike and his wife and staff were the most amazing hosts in every way. They were sweet, kind, thoughtful and everything in between. The property is breathtaking with the waterfall and the private onsen. Truly authentic and memorable. We have traveled throughout the world and have to say, this is in the top five. The food - oh my - it was next level and we enjoyed every bit of it! Wish we could have stayed longer but so happy to have had this experience. Highly recommend!

Rooms offer a mountain view and a traditional interior with a tatami (woven-mat) floor and Japanese futon bedding. Amenities include a TV, yukata robes and toiletries like toothbrush.

Ryokan Tokonamiso is a 10-minute drive from the historical Tsumago-juku. The Akasawabirin forest can be visited a 1,5 hour drive away, and the Kaida Highlands Ice-Cream Factory is a 100-minute drive.

We didn’t stay in this hotel. For reasons not known to us the hotel was closed. We were allowed to stay in the hotel next door (hotel Fukinomori) which meant a huge upgrade: - traditional Japanese room with tatami mats - onsen with wonderful views - lounge with free drinks - free shuttle to and from the hotel Also very friendly staff!

It was a beautiful, exclusive ryokan with exceptional views and outstanding food. Our hospitable and friendly host Koike did everything to provide a memorable stay. He helped us with transport to walk the trail and made sure we were safe driving in the winter time. The outside onsen with waterfall is an amazing experience.

An absolute dream. We hiked from Magome to Tsumago where we were picked up by the inn owner, who drove us to the inn. We had the entire inn to ourselves so it was the perfect honeymoon stay. The dinner spread was simply outstanding and had all sorts of fresh produce from the area cooked marvellously. There are both indoor and outdoor onsen baths, with the latter facing a gorgeous mini waterfall. Staying here was one of the highlights of the trip. Can’t recommend it enough!

Great onsens, beautiful view. It’s remote and requires a car or shuttle collection. Good stop along nakasendo.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Caught the shuttle bus from Tsumago and were welcomed by the staff. Tokonamiso is a smaller simpler property beside a pricer sister hotel. Our room was huge and we had a private toilet/sink in the room. Got to use the beautiful onsen facilities in the adjoining hotel. Had a very comfortable rest while walking the Nakasendo.

The relaxedness of this Ryokan is simply stunning. It was my second time in 8 years that I visited this beautiful location, this time with my spouse. The room was huge, we had a massage seat that was all part of the package and dinner and breakfast were delicious. The onsens were superior and the attention of the staff was superb. Over the years the level of English of staff members increased significantly even when google translate always works in case of emergency.

I especially felt thankful to the staff, super helpful! I forgot the accommodation is in the mountain and didn't prepare dinner, and yet, the staff offered me to give me a ride to the nearest convenient store (20 mins with car), on the way to pick up the guest from the train station. So I didn't have to sleep with hunger, haha. I also like the interior of the hotel (which is 1 min walk from the accommodation). It is mostly made from wood, even the onsen room, which is not so common in most of hotels in Japan.

Excellent staff who greeted us on arrival. Beautiful lobby and secluded location in the hills. Clean, traditional Japanese room. Very good multi-course dinner and breakfast in our own screened-off room. Private onsen in the tree tops was very special, especially during a lightning storm!
