Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast, for an establishment of this calibre I felt breakfast let it down. Tea, coffee and juices out of a machine! They had plenty of staff on hand so why couldn’t they do tea pots and carafes for beverages. Poor layout of the breakfast table made it hard to serve food and access the hot food. Room was clean, modern with a view but expected larger especially for the cost.
Location, clean.

United KingdomCleaning of shower room could have been more thorough. Washbasin always felt scummy. Overflow black mildew. Taps not well cleaned around base. No toilet brush. No extra toilet roll left on last day. Had wash in shower. No shower/shampoo provided.
Amenities good. Quiet. Sea view.

United KingdomShower pressure a little disappointing considering rainfall type of head and too close to the wall requiring you to get right up to the controls. Separate shower on side did give alternative. Only eggs on offer at breakfast was scrambled. If alternatives were available there was nothing to indicate this. Decor in bar was mixed and some chairs and tables appeared cheap and shabby and out of character with the hotel.
Large comfortable bedroom, table and chair sitting area, a desk and a settee gave a space for all needs. Bathroom spacious with walk in shower and large thick towels. Breakfast good mix of continental and full English. Food available in bar was excellent quality. plenty of space in the car park. nice view even though we faced inland.

United KingdomThe heat in our room at night was unbearable. The air conditioner was set at 18 degrees and did not cool the room at all. We had the windows open all night. The heat from the heated towel rails in the bathroom was excessive no way to turn down or off. Had to keep the bathroom door closed. No shelf in the shower, every thing had to go on the floor. Biggest problem the safe, fitted in the floor of the wardrobe, difficult to get at unless you lay on the floor.
The room and bathroom were a good size . Having a mini fridge was useful. Large bed but not the most comfortable. Nice to have sitting area. Breakfast was very good plenty of choice.

United KingdomThe room was not really cleaned and the bed was so uncomfortable, like sleeping on concrete , the TV worked on and off and it would have been nice to have some tea bags rather than 1 fruit tea, a biscuit to nibble on would have been nice also, along side some water, the tap at the sink in the bathroom constantly dripped, overall I don't think the room was worth £215 , I was later told by receptionist that they could have given wedding discount for room, again this would have been nice to know before and for other guests, when enquiring. Apart from an amazing wedding , room stay was very disappointing, I have stayed in better cheaper hotels such as Holiday inn etc
We stayed due to it being my sister's wedding , the ballroom and champagne bar were beautiful, the ceremony was lovely and the food was amazing except the evening buffet that was far to dry and hard to eat, breakfast was delicious the next day and staff were so helpful.

United KingdomBreakfast juice as Orange not good flavour. Didn't think we had to order fried eggs separately so no takers. Should have had less scrambled and introduced fried or poached eggs to hand.
Lovely sea view room. Very full breakfast choices hot and cold.

United KingdomThe breakfast buffet was tricky to serve as the lids weren't on a spring. You were holding a plate, putting a lid on top of something else (stopping the next person using that vessel) then serving yourself. Basically, a two man job to make it easier!
The location was great. The room was large and the bed was comfortable! Wish I'd requested a walk in shower.

United KingdomThe instructions for the safe were inside the door of the safe close to the floor in the wardrobe where it was dark so you could not see them. Had to ask maintenance to assist - they were very prompt and helpful.

United KingdomBeing above the ballroom on a Saturday night music was very loud. The floor shock with the drum and bass music. It didn’t matter as we didn’t get back to our room until 23.30 and we had to wind down. The music did stop at midnight but if I had to get up early in the morning. I would have not been pleased !!

United KingdomNothing of note. The hotel is very pleasant and an ideal place to stay in Hythe. For someone who is not good at walking it is a little on the periphery of the town centre.
The room was spacious and had an excellent sea view. The hotel was quiet and restful. The bar was good and we had a bar meal that was very good. We did not have time to use the spar and restaurant. Car parking was excellent with plenty of spaces.
